Over the last few weeks I have come to appreciate the writings of Conor Friedersdorf, columnist for The Atlantic. I neither defend, promote nor worship Malcolm X. He is, though, a captivating figure in American history, one which most know little about. Like most of us his views on life, religion and politics changed several times, including, ultimately, a repudiation of violence.
